Senior Medical Social Worker
Job Responsibilities
- Functions as a Senior Medical Social Worker to provide bio-psychosocial assessment and intervention in the management of patient / resident / client care in line with professional standards, while supervising a team and leading projects.
- Provide end-to-end counselling and case management for complex / specialised cases, including assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Lead the development, facilitation, and evaluation of group work sessions to strengthen social support systems and networks for target groups.
- Identify service gaps and advocate for or lead the development of programmes to improve service delivery for patients / residents / clients / caregivers and stakeholders.
- Plan, manage, and deliver programmes for clients, families, multidisciplinary teams, and relevant stakeholders in specialised areas of health social work.
- Lead the team in providing psychosocial care in adherence to the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and governance requirements.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to interns, medical social workers, and support staff in professional development and standards of practice delivery.
- Contribute to organisational and departmental initiatives to improve processes and enhance service effectiveness.
- Conduct or guide the development of skills-based education and training for MSWs, healthcare professionals, and community workers.
- Demonstrate awareness of role-related risks and support organisational efforts in managing risks effectively.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, postgraduate certificate, or Master’s qualification in a relevant field.
- Degree in Social Work (or major in Social Work).
- Practising Social Worker Accreditation by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW).
- 5–8 years of relevant working experience.
- Good social casework intervention skills.
- Good counselling skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates self-awareness and ability to use self effectively in facilitating change.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
