Principal Medical Social Worker
Job Responsibilities
- Provide medical social services to patients and their families to help them manage social, psychological, and financial challenges arising from illness.
- Deliver social work interventions, including counselling, emotional support, and practical assistance tailored to individual and family needs.
- Supervise and support senior social workers and other team members, ensuring quality and consistency in service delivery.
- Lead and guide the planning, organization, and coordination of support programmes, fostering continuous learning and development.
- Facilitate service delivery improvements at both organizational and national levels through collaboration and strategic input.
- Assist the Head of Department in ensuring the smooth operation and ongoing enhancement of medical social services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or Master’s Degree in Social Work (or with a major in Social Work).
- Practising Social Worker Accreditation by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW).
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Strong social casework intervention skills.
- Proficient in counselling techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates self-awareness and effectively uses personal insight to facilitate positive change in patients, families, and team dynamics.
- Skilled in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
