Medical Social Worker
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver social work-based interventions, including counselling, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their families.
- Provide medical social services to help patients and families manage the social, psychological, and financial impact of illness.
- Collaborate with the Psychosocial Services team to identify areas of need and assist in the coordination of support programmes.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure holistic and integrated care for patients.
- Supervise social work undergraduates during their fieldwork placements, fostering professional growth and development.
- Oversee and guide the work of social service assistants to maintain service quality and effectiveness.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate support programmes that address the psychosocial needs of patients and families.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Social Work (or with a major in Social Work).
- Practising Social Worker Accreditation by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Strong social casework intervention skills.
- Effective counselling abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Mentoring skills (where applicable).
